Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness and Prevention

Gender-Based Violence Awareness and Prevention is a core component of the programs implemented by Grapes of New Hope. This component is designed to address the root causes of GBV while ensuring that survivors receive immediate and practical support to restore dignity, safety, and well-being.

Through this program, Grapes of New Hope actively raises awareness within the community about the forms, causes, and consequences of Gender-Based Violence. We engage community members, local leaders, and vulnerable groups through sensitization sessions, dialogue forums, and educational activities that promote gender equality, respect, and the protection of human rights. These efforts aim to prevent GBV by challenging harmful cultural norms and encouraging positive behavioral change.

In addition to prevention and awareness, we provide direct support to GBV survivors. Recognizing the urgent needs of survivors, the organization offers basic essential assistance to help them cope in the aftermath of violence. This includes the provision of clothing (such as Bitenge) and other basic necessities to meet immediate needs and help restore dignity. Where possible, survivors are also referred to relevant service providers for medical care, psychosocial support, legal assistance, and safe shelter.

By combining prevention, awareness, and survivor-centered support, Grapes of New Hope is committed to creating safer communities and ensuring that survivors of Gender-Based Violence are protected, supported, and empowered to rebuild their lives.
